The Ahab Inside Me – Redux
July 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm$25
The Forty Hour Club presents “THE AHAB INSIDE ME—Redux”, an all NEW blues opera/musical theater production by playwright and experimental theater artist Michael Gorman. Directed by Joe John Battista.
It’s all hands-on-deck in this inspirational tale of a fishing community’s daunting quest for survival and transformation in the face of the opiate crisis, as seen through an aspiring young fisherman’s struggle with addiction and, in a grand delusion, an epic confrontation with Captain Ahab and his destructive pursuit of Moby Dick.
Told through music, spoken word, recitative opera, and movement, THE AHAB INSIDE ME-Redux calls for a reevaluation of Ahab’s vengeful attitude toward the White Whale and our own destructive relationship to nature and the environment. With a full blues/rock band and an incredible and talented cast of singers, musicians, and performers, this NEW expanded original production will make one last stop in Maine this summer before moving on to New Bedford, MA (the home of Moby Dick) and New York City. Not to be missed!
Presented by The Forty Hour Club, a resident theater company of the famed La MaMa Theater in New York City.
The Colonial Theater will also become The Forty Hour Club’s artistic “home” this summer for a 4-week residency period leading up to this production.
